February 17, 2010: Darwin Day with Dr. Bret Bennington of Hofstra University
In 1831 Charles Darwin departed on a five-year voyage aboard the H.M.S. Beagle to explore the natural history of South America. For Darwin this journey was an intellectual transformation that would eventually root the science of biology into the realm of rational thought and forever alter humanity’s sense of place in the natural world. In this presentation / discussion we heard about the young Charles Darwin and what he saw on his voyage of discovery that had such a profound impact on his understanding of the living world.
